Manitowish Waters Bike Trail Extension ProjectPowell Road to Manitowish/Deer Path Road

Bike trail update - October 2024

As you may have noticed, work is now underway on the Bike Trail Extension Project along Highway 51. The grubbing of trees for the trail started at Manitowish Road and is complete almost to Little Bohemia. The contractor plans to complete all trail work this fall except for the paving. This will allow the gravel bed to settle before the blacktop is placed. Depending on spring weather, the bike trail extension to Powell Road should be completely usable by mid to late May.

People have been very generous with their contributions. To date, we have raised $367,539. The projected construction cost is for $417,650. Therefore any additional donations to the Bike Trail Extension Project would be greatly appreciated, and may be dropped off or mailed to:

Town of Manitowish Waters

P.O. Box 267
Manitowish Waters, WI 54545

If you know someone who is a biker or walker, please ask them to help support this extension of the Manitowish Waters Bike Trail along Highway 51 from Manitowish/Deer Path Roads to Powell Road. We will have safe walking and biking for all along busy Highway 51.

Pickleball ProjectFundraising Efforts are Now Underway!

  • Eight (8) Pickleball courts will be built next to the Town Hall and the Youth Center.
  • The Town has donated the land and will ultimately own the courts.
  • This is a community-based project for the benefit of all who live here or come to vacation and enjoy our community.
  • The cost of the project will be funded primarily through private donations. Over half of the budgeted costs have already been pledged through these donations!
  • A local group is managing this project and they are working tirelessly to raise the remaining pledges before the end of this year.
  • The non-profit MW Alliance Foundation is assisting the MW Pickleball Project team by making ONLINE DONATIONS (by credit card) available through the Alliance website.
  • If you prefer to send a check, make payable to: Town of Manitowish Waters and mail to: MW Pickleball Project, PO BOX 267, Manitowish Waters, WI 54545.

The Transfer Station is located 1/2 mile north of beautiful downtown Manitowish Waters at 217 Hwy W.
