We Need Your Help!

Broadband is rapidly expanding throughout Vilas County, but we’re not done yet! Your voice is critical to determine where broadband needs to improve, provide accurate data for grant funding, develop detailed broadband availability and coverage maps, 

The WI DOT project for resurfacing Highway 51 from Highway W to Highway M will begin on August 24th and should be completed by mid-October. The project will start at the Highway W intersection. There will be lane closures during the day when work is being done,

The Town of Manitowish Waters follows the Vilas County Highway Department’s schedule for Temporary Weight Restrictions.

These restrictions were lifted Monday, May 8th at 8:00 a.m.

The regularly scheduled Tuesday Monthly Town Board Meeting has been changed to Monday, April 10th, 2023 at 7pm at the Manitowish Waters Town Hall.

Xcel Energy has rescheduled their in-person Open-House for Thursday, January 26th, 2023, to seek Community input regarding the Boot Lake – Chain O Lakes (Manitowish Waters) Transmission Line & Substation Project.

The water level in the Chain above the dam will likely decrease from its current level and reach 8’0″ sometime shortly before October 1st.

Then beginning on October 1st, the level will be drawn down from 8’0″ to reach the final winter level on or before October 31st.
