Property Tax Information

Property taxes help support North Lakeland Elementary School, Lakeland Union High School, Nicolet College, Vilas County, AND Manitowish Waters.

Bills were sent from the Town of Manitowish Waters the week of December 8-12, 2025.

PAYMENTS

First installments or full payments of your property tax bill must be paid to the Town of Manitowish Waters by January 31, 2026. The second installment is due by July 31, 2026. Payments made after January 31, 2026, MUST be paid to and sent to the Vilas County Treasurer.

Pay attention to post-marked date!

The due date for the First Installment and/or Full Amount payments is January 31, 2026.

Whether you are trying to pay your taxes in 2025 OR just trying to get them paid before the deadline in January, please note this updated info:

• If you mail your payment near the end of the month, we recommend you walk it into the Post Office and ask them to hand postmark your envelope to ensure that it has a current month's postmarked date.  Please see this article regarding changes to how the United States Postal Service handles postmarks.  Postmark Changes at the Post Office and Late Mail

Helpful Information

• Double-Check Your Check!  This will avoid delays in processing your payment and/or  late fees.
  • Is your check made out to the correct recipient? First installments or full payments of your property tax bill must be made out to the Town of Manitowish Waters  and mailed by January 31, 2026. Payments made after January 31, 2026, MUST be made out to, and sent to the Vilas County Treasurer.
  • Make sure your numerical amount matches your written amount.
  • Is your check dated correctly?
  • Did you sign your check?
  • Include the parcel number and phone number on the check.
  • Endorse the back of escrow checks if YOUR name is included in the "Payable To:" line – ALL parties named must sign the back of the escrow check before submitting to the Town of Manitowish Waters.
  • Per Resolution 2025-11, the Town will charge a $20.00 fee for any check returned by a financial institution, so don’t forget to confirm your bank balance before sending your check!
• If you would like a receipt, include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
• Mailed payments are typically deposited weekly and receipts are generally sent within a few days of receiving payment.
• Payments postmarked by December 31, 2025, are considered as payment in 2025.

Payments must be postmarked by January 31, 2026, in order to be considered timely first installments or full payments.
